Zionists are not terrorists?Give me a break....
|
So what will happen if a terrorist plane crashes on a nuclear power plant?
- a nuclear power plant containment structure consists of a 1 meter thick wall of heavy reinforced concrete.
- if the plane hits other sites around it,other than the containment structure, the reactor will automatically stop thanks to the technological advancement upgrade.
- if the plane hits the side of the wall, it will probably bounces off the wall and hardly damage the containment external structure at all.
- if it hits the top of the containment structure,it will not directly damage the vital structures of the core of the reactor because they are located much lower....and it will stop automatically.
- if it hits the lower part of the containment structure, which is not easy because there are a lot of buildings around a nuclear power plant;it will need to get through not only the very thick external wall of the containment, but also several reinforced concrete walls before reaching the reactor itself....
- logically, the probability for a plane to hit the containment structure is very small if compared to the WTC incident.
- even in the case the worse happens, the main danger for civilains around the site would be the iodine radioactivity release. But a counter-poison exists to prevents the effects of radioactive iodine in a human body. It consists of absorbing a non-radioactive iodine pills. By the way, populations living near a nuclear power plant(US, France, Finland and many others) already have iodine pills distributed in advance.

This is a very catchy post especially about the plane which is able to bounces off the wall. It is good to know that technologies and researches give us the chance to build a better nuclear power plant which is safe against impact. With most of the protective layers are made from heavy reinforced concrete, i bet it would be hard for a plane to crash directly to the nuclear reactor. This is very important as we dont want any of the iodine radioactive to be release into the environment because that will be the worst scenario that can happen to us.
ReplyDeleteBut how about other disasters? Such as severe corrosion, leaking valve, explosion and etc. How can a nuclear power plant protect the outside world if those cases were to happen?
Thank You.

ReplyDeleteNice explanation there regarding the safety issue if a terrorist attack would occur at a Nuclear Power Plant. I agree that if the plant is well built and designed, a terrorist atack won't pose a threat on the plant.
The post about the plane which is able to bounces off the wall is merely a description, the plane will not be able to destroy the structure of the building because of the material and design of the building (High grade concrete, steel and thicker walls). This design has been use during the world war 2 to build underground bunker preventing bombs attack.

hey people! do not get confuse with the bouncing plane statement will ya....Mirin is right...i do not mean it literally.. i was trying to say that the containment building structure is kinda strong to overcome that amount of impact....
ReplyDelete463 power plants are currently operating worldwide in 30 countries..none of them are subjected to terrorist attack...instead WTC, the pentagon, the hotel in Mumbai and Bali were the targeted area....maybe...just maybe...the reason for this is because an attack on a NPP is a far fetch operation....
ReplyDeleteHonestly, we cant build and operate a NPP here in malaysia on our own.....not just yet.... Therefore, we need to import the services needed..Its much safer and faster that way...guarenteed.....

Halo. I dont quite understand what you meant by bouncing off the wall? Or did you mean sliding across the vertical surface of the wall of the NPP? But still the the wings definitely gonna hit the thing. When a NPP is gonna be built, surely they would have thought of all the safety precautions need to be taken possible.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteIndeed, if a plane flies into a nuclear reactor, although the nuclear reactor is well shielded, it is still a daunting and scary possibility. Thus maybe if possible, especially in rich countries, turrets or missile launchers should be on standby securing the perimeter of the nuclear plant, especially if its a big one. Any incoming threatening projectile can be shot down. Those are my 2 cents. PS: I don't think Israelis are terrorists, its just how the Malaysian media has portrayed them to us.

However,we should also consider the human error and the probability that the mistake might also occur. Even a slight error can cause something terrible to happen, even just a 1% of error. Just to double the protection that already have been doubled. In case you are still afraid with all those precaution and protection,we can add radar to detect any threat coming. Or maybe with just build the NPP inside the Malaysian Air Force base.Leave it to the one who are know how to fight agains terrorist...well,it just an idea. :p

ReplyDeleteThe airways for both commercial and military planes are controlled by each countries. If an alien object/plane flying towards the specific airway/one of a country unidentified, that will be labeled as a threat straight away. Thus, the Air force will be alerted and action will be taken by deploying fighter planes to interrogate the incoming unidentified plane. Next the air defense system will be deployed as well. The fighter planes possessed by Malaysian Air Force are one of the most sophisticated, Sukhoi Su-30 MKM from Russia while the air defense systems are from UK's BAE System.
ReplyDeleteFuthermore, based on Malaysia's neutral status, I don't think Malaysia will be the strategy target for terrorist. The only threatening terrorists in the region right now are from Philippines, which I believe don't even have the capability of possessing a plane for such purpose. Plane-hijacking? It's the time for the national security to practice and upgrade in this area. For now and the future.

As we can see above that the scientist nowadays has prepared precautions for us before the worse could happen. as we aslso know that nuclear is now 1 of the most dangerous threat for human being and it is been taken well by the societies to prevent anything bad happen to he civillians.Im proud to read this but we also soulnt be 100 percent satisfied of this protection cause we would not know what might happen and i hope that better plans will be ready just as a plan B.

iodine pills, the counter poison for iodine radioactivity is truly benificial. But does this pill can 100% prevent the effects of radioactive iodine and truly protected human body.

previous accidents such as chernobyl have given the engineers ideas to build better protection to avoid catastrophical events but this has somehow without their knowing also became a protection against terrorism, which is also a major point to be aware of. but for our country, terrorism is not a major point to worry about, but we also hear of many plane crashes around.

hi, thanks to the nuclear scientist today, the world is able to be sure that they are safe because nuclear is very well handled now. but the main concern is the waste that comes out from it.

ReplyDeleteYour article is very interesting. It explains very detail about the safety of nuclear power plant. But we have to always remember that everything is in God hand. If He want it to happen, it will happen no matter how.

hi,
ReplyDeletethis article was indeed interesting.. but bare in mind that terrorist force always think one step ahead of the law enforcement.. i mean that their technology is way ahead of others.. so, i believe that the safety factor should be really advanced to withstand any attacks..

so interesting about this post. every matter has their own solution as long as the human still keep giving strong effort to see the go green target successful. therefore, after i read this post, I can say that nuclear technology is so safe and being aware of any problems. nuclear energy is relevant to be used as the power source because it is cost effective, no hazardous gas emmision and so on.

ReplyDeleteThis article is clearly can be conclude which the nuclear technology does no need to be worried if something bad will happen to us. Those points above are the evidence can we referred and the main thing is we do have the iodine pills to prevent the effects of radioactive iodine in a human body...
so CHILL\!!!GO GREEN!!!

Aww... the worse case was iodine spill.. but luckily it is still a managable problem =).The containment structure should be improve so that the iodine spill won't ever happen again.By the way,in dynamics , we learnt that every force has it's reaction force. how does the plane bounces off when it hits the hard concrete wall? unless one of is elastic.

ReplyDeleteWell, my opinion...a terrorist attack on a NPP can happen..but if the security measures imposed to protect it is sufficient, then it wouldn't be much of a problem. But..it will be a BIG problem, if the measures taken are not sufficient. Therefore, the government should take this into account, seriously..b4 and after setting up a power plant. Security is an extremely important factor..bcoz these terrorist attacks, may come when and where u least expected. Aint that right..?? :D

Sometimes i am surprise with the advancement in NPP safety technology.Just to give my idea is that the construction of NPP even the building planning and architacture should not being done by Malaysian company. We can't trust our local company simply because they even can build crack school, building and endanger thousands life of people..:)

ReplyDeletehye. i dont know about the terrorist and the plane crush but it is interesting to hear such thing. but it is so dangerous to civilians and also the country because of the iodine radioactivity released. make sure the prevention is safe so that we can live better. :)

Now,we should believe that the safety of the reactor built is safe enough to protect us.Even they compare it with the possibilities of plane to crash..Anyway,people will still convince that NPP now has improved alot.. TQ

ReplyDeleteLets we reverse the question.
So what will happen if a nuclear power plant burst and hit all non-terrorist(innocent citizen)?
hmm..If this happen,it seems like the answer is similar to Three mile and Chernobyl accident. We don't want that to happened again.

It it potentially catastrophic if by any chance our power plant fail because our country is relatively small, and based on the chernobyl disaster, it can mean that our country may not be inhabitable anymore. It is a possibility that we need to consider before starting the npp project

From my research, after September 11 attack all nuclear power plant licensed by Nuclear Regulatory Commission must be protected by a series of physical barriers and a trained security force. So, it will be double safe for a power plant because beside they build it with full of safety aspect, there are also special force that are assign to protect it.

wow, nice and interesting post but i would like suggest here why dont we build the nuclear plant farther from the city and housing areas, just want to reduce the risk on civilians if such case as terrorist attack occurred and a number of civilian didn't prepare for the terrorist attack for eg,out of iodine pills, didn't know the measures should taken when this type of scenario happen. At least, they have time to escape before the poison reaches them due to terrorist attack.
